A Question of Balance
The symptoms struck suddenly. On the morning of June 3, 2016, Jason Monas, a sixty-four year old software analyst, experienced some loss of balance and tingling in his hands and feet. Within a few short days he could no longer walk! By July 25 his legs and arms were paralyzed! Over the course of a year, he struggled to surmount both physical impairment and psychological demons.
Jason Monas contracted CIDP (Chronic Inflammatory Demyelinating Polyneuropathy) – a rare autoimmune disorder that causes paralysis and leaves up to thirty-percent of its victims wheel-chair bound. “A Father’s Gift to His Daughter” is an article and video on the UHN (University Health Network) about Jason’s battle with CIDP. “A Question of Balance” is the full story yet to be published.
Norwegian Woods
Bob Smith and Paula Wright are itinerant environmental activists who are determined to stop ‘Olausson and Son Home Builders’ from developing sub-divisions that will destroy local wildlife and taint the water supply. At a rally staged by the Romney Ridge Ecological Club, Bob hurls a dead fish at Wilf Olausson and his business associate Raj Singh to protest municipal approval of Olausson’s latest sub-division ‘Norwegian Woods’. Bob lands in jail, but Olausson, influenced by his son, Bjorn, decides not to press charges. Bob is released and the stage is set for a conflict that includes environmentalists, builders, and the provincial government.
